Has anyone fed their flock rabbit alfalfa pellets
to supplement for their greens ?

I guess if that is what you have for them
I never liked rabbit pellets as it has higher amt of salt in it
but people do use it
I would supplement it this way
w bowls of commercial chicken feed
one bowl if rabbit pellets
they would probably not be hurt by it

what ingredients does the rabbit pellets say is in it?

purina has a small sized alfalfa pellet that are okay for chickens
and would feed it measured same way

Well, this is good to know. I have roses where the chickens free range, so I can't feed them regular rose food. The guy at the Univ. suggested alfalfa and fish oil or kelp. I was afraid the chickens would eat the alfalfa. He said not the get the kind for rabbits, but the kind for horses would be OK. The horse pellets are probably 3/4" to 1". If the chickens did try to eat them, would they choke or get impacted crops from something like that?

I have recently experimented with feeding chickens alfalfa pellets for horses. First thing learned, soak in water so chickens will actually TRY to eat them. And second, if they generally do not get a lot of greens they might eat them. my chickens didn't want anything to do with them in any form. however fresh stuff from the field is gobbled up.

My chickens won't eat them, even if they have been soaked, fluffed, and heated to just warm in the microwave. I'm gonna use em on the daylilies...

My chickens absolutely love the horse cubes soaked. I give them in the afternoon or early evening (usually on my last check for eggs) when they are pretty tired of scrounging for bugs and greens in the pasture. At that point they are happy to see some easy pickin's. And alfalfa helps increase the omega 3's and probably protein too.

My chickens love the pellets during the winter. (no need for them once the grass grows)

I just throw a handful in with the feed once, maybe twice a week, for a treat.

I ground up the rabbit pellets
and toss in a handful with their feed and they loved it .
and with grass growing like wild fire( did 2 cuts already)
they are into the fresh greens for now.

a note here at alfalfa cubes verses pellets
purina makes a nice small alfalfa pellet that chickens do eat
also if feeding the pellets dry leave them till they are eaten and DON'T FEED any other feed
this is how one teaches chickens to eat crumbles in the pellet form
a hungrey chicken is a chicken that cleans up its feed

if feeding the alflfa cubes with water besure and clean that up as it will get moldy and poison the chickens
generally any treat is what they will clean up in 20-3- minutes

Cubes I feel are big for horses and not tasty to chickens
