Is there anything safe we can put in poultry water that’ll prevent/slow the growth of algae? We thought about using
55 gal rain barrels for waterers, but don’t want to have to empty & scrub them out every few days.

Try putting a copper pipe or some old copper pennies in the water. The new pennies aren't copper like the old pennies.

ACV should never be in their water all the time, they need access to plain water. Also, out of curiousity, how do you know your birds like it? Compared to plain water?
I didn't say they like it over water. I didn't say I put it in all the time either. When algee starts to grow ( which the question was about) my chicks do not care for it. I put in some apple cider vinager stops the growth fast. Chicks drink the water.

With the algae in it?
