The days have grown shorter and the cold is creeping in. All the chickens are thankful for their warm downy feathers except poor Alice. Alice came in one night in such a frightful state. It seems she has lost her feathers and is too uncomfortable to go out on the big date. Yes the others had made plans to be at Stan's. Alice asks: "Oh if only I could borrow a few feathers from you, Then I would not feel so blue?" The other girls giggle at poor Alice as they will not share. Alice is too embarassed and darts out the door. "Oh why so cruel do they not even care?" But let all those that giggle at another beware, For the yearly molt can strike any chicken unaware!
