after you get the walls and roof up.

Not much more progress

added the hardware cloth to what I have been calling the short wall.... ok it's a skinny tall wall

it looks good! Anchored it to the building and tied it to the gate. Its solid. 2 more doors to make and a gate that will connect the new units back to the original compound.

Added a nail and wire so that I can tie up the roost bar in the 1st growout coop

see that space behind the corner post? Yeah I was worried about babies getting trapped there so we added a piece of osb

and under the roost

Got the other 2 coop doors built and ready to hang. Nothing exciting just 2x2 frame covered with corrugated metal siding

and it got dark...

Got the latch on the first door

got the last 2 doors hung and added the handle and latches

finished the plywood inside

and the first inhabitant... silly turkey got beat up

so how do you shut them in the coop if needed... like a fence is damaged

I do not lock them in the coop because the enclosed run is secure. If for small chicks or something I Need to keep them contained I may come up with a temporary cover, but i dont think i will need it.
If a fence is damaged I will move them or put them in crates. My other 2 coops are made similar and so far we have not had a breach.

Lol yes that is the chicken door. 16 inches tall and 24 inches wide. It was a simple way of leaving it open for them but still having a door so it isn't completely open.
