Our Buffs have proven to be good layers as well.

They look like they have a touch of frostbite. If you put some vaseline on their combs and wattles, it will help prevent any more damage. If it turns black, it will fall off.
 
I had a BO and RIR's and they were great layers. When they got older I raised up some BA's that I currently have and have been disappointed with them. They just don't lay as much. I wish I had my RIR's again. I'm planning on getting a few RIR chicks to raise as replacements again.
 
I have three BO's. I think they are all girls, but one is exceptionally bigger than the other two, so maybe it is a roo. All born at the same time. Do they lay brown eggs? How about the Sussex, what color do they lay. They are humongous already.
