Hi again! I've been looking for answer on the internet but can't really find it. Maybe someone here knows....

What colour genes are responsible for the so call "all black" Japanese Coturnix quails that are available for sale on the internet?
They look amazing. But is it actually a dark Tuxedo with very little white with perhaps a dark Tibetan (and cross your fingers) or is it a true colour line by now? Thanks!!!

Not my picture, from the german seller: https://www.vogelsberger-wachtelzucht.de/1211/wachteleier-von-schwarz-und-schwarzschecken?c=34

I believe this color is created by selectively breeding Tibetan to Grau fee. There are lines in Germany, Canada and from a few breeders in the US with K Dale coturnix being the original US source
Interesting, thank you very much.

The sellers talk about black or black/white Tuxedo. The tuxedo gets its dark colours from Tibetan/Grau fee then?
Tuxedo is a collection of pied genes and the base color can be any color. Tibetan is a dark black/brown color. Grau fee is a Tibetan with the fee gene, which will lighten and remove the brown. You can have a tuxedo that isn’t Tibetan and doesn’t have fee.
