No, it just makes them "people height" so there is less bending for cleaning and such

Here in Phoenix, we put coops on the NORTH side of anything to keep them in the shade! We love a north wind here if it's cool!
 
Very impressive coop!

I am just at the "thinking" stage of a 4 X 8 coop as well, and would love to end up with something very similar to yours! Maybe I'll steal a couple of ideas....
