I was recently at the feed mill and seen a bag of busted all grain in the corner of the office. So while I was waiting to pay I got a handfull and checked it out and it looked real good it was kinda sticky like maybe it had molasses in it and it had a good combo of corn and other grains it looked like,so my question is can this be fed to chickens I have never heard of anyone feeding it before, but It is fairly inexpensive and I was thinking about trying it by just mixing it with laying pellets or hen scratch does anyone have any objection to this?

I'm thinking it would be fine as a treat. Maybe not as the only feed they get. You would need to post the ingredients and nutritionals for a better answer.

I do feed as atreat only.I buy to mix my goat feed anyway and will retain a bag for the chickens .They always are at my feet when I am mixing to get a hand out.I threw some out to them and I am invaded now they love it.

Be careful as the molasses can give them diarrhea. If it is only grains, no soybeans, you might be able to substitute it for scratch. I would not feed a lot of it, because most of the grains are not high enough in protein. If you list the ingredients, that would be helpful.

It would be hard to say yes or no to it with out seeing a feed tag and/ or knowing what all was in it..

I would guess it was either sweet cob (horse ) or goat chow. Now if you have ever fed your chickens around horses or goats, you will have seen your chickens fight these large critters for those treats. Win't hurt then in small amounts.

I would use it as a treat only. Usually these types of feed are mixed with quite a good bit of SALT in them. Remember this type of feed is usually blended for the diets of large mammals so you can just imagine the nutrients and minerals are mixed according to feed to wieght ratios for feeding these type of animals and they also sweat(perspire) too. Prolly better just stick to a ration for chickens(fowl).

Question ? why don't you just feed scratch for a treat ? .... If you mix it with your LAY Mash or crumble It ruins the formula of your more expensive feed , In escence , A waste !!! .... I turned all mine loose on free Range this AM !! they were not paying there feed bill , However they will still return to roost and lay the few eggs as before !! But without the expense of the MASH . I suspect my LAY-HENS are over the age Limet , (Like ME) !!! The best thing is , I can assure you there will be no pesty BUG's left on the ground to contend with , Just chicken S/...T !!! , ........ ALANB . Added note , I'm looking for MIDGET-WHITE Turkey Hatching EGG'S ? ANYONE ....... ? PM ME PLEASE , THANKYOU .
