All Grown Up Now ~ 41 Weeks Old~ New Pics Post 223(01/15/12)~

Yes, Kathy, the Buff Orp named Hope is the same age as everyone else, can you believe it? She is about 1/3 larger than her sister, Grace, too. The only one in that entire coop that is older is the Silver Phoenix pullet and I think she's probably 11 weeks old or so, if I remember correctly. I didn't get a good pic of the other EE, Maretta, but she's really pretty.

LOL@rarely bored!

He was named Angus MacGyver because he got himself out of a sort of pickle a few days ago.

She looks like she's been taking steroids! Tell me, is the splash rock the same size or smaller than the barred rocks? Its a little hard for me to tell from the pics.

She's lots fluffier than they are, so she may be a tad smaller than them. I never really thought about it, would have to really check. These breeder type BRs feather in so slowly, as you know, and she is all fluffy and gorgeous already.

ETA:

Ok, I went out there and caught her. She is very definitely smaller than the BR pullets. They are bulkier, broader, heavier and taller than Gloria Jean is. In fact, had a BR in my right hand and GJ in my left and had a great side by side comparison. Golly that little splash girl is pretty, though! What a beauty she is!

Holy Moly that orp is a chunky monkey....you know when she grows up she can aspire to be as wonderful as the Nugget but she just will not make it...no other bird can but she can get close.

Adding a few more pics to the mix. The first one is Maretta, the other Easter Egger pullet:

Look at the size of Hope, compared to the splash and barred Rocks and the tiny D'anver boy:

Breaking them up, adding more, so dial-ups don't get bogged down too much:

This BR boy needs a name. He's so calm and sweet at this point. Still feathering out at 7 1/2 weeks old. The Phoenix is weeks older than the rest of the chicks.

In a group of 16 BO I have 2 with black penciling and white spangles. They are only 2 weeks old but stand out from the others. Could they be a different color of Orp?
