After loosing Fluffy Butt, I bought a trap and promptly set it up. I caught an opposum, and set it free. But since then all I can manage to trap is my own cat!!

I've come out to my horse barn TWO DAYS IN A ROW and caught this little raccoon eating the cat food- and I set traps for him but the cats beat him to it! How frustrating!:|

Try caging your cat while you have the trap set. Only have the trap set during the time the animal you are trying to trap is most active.

Another thing you can do, when you trap your cat, spray it with a squirt gun filled with water, if it does it again put vinegar in the squirt gun.

Good idea, ill spray him down! Got lots of squirt guns around here.

I set the trap at night, but thats usually when Trap (His name is actually Rat Trap) is out and about. Ill have to try to get him in for the night.

Why did you turn the opossum loose? He will eat you chickens and their eggs if given the chance ... Or do you have the cage for another reason? Sorry if this a stupid question...Dixie

The opposum was released many many many miles from the house. He/she is now home in a huge protected forest that has habitat just like here.
