We decided to have three yard hydrants installed, so we didn't have to connect 250 feet worth of hose to the one outside faucet.

No problem, right?
When the men dug down 4 feet to check the waterpipe position at the street, they found that 20 years ago when the property was connected to the water, they used substandard 1-1/2 thin plastic irrigation pipe that was flattened under the weight of the dirt. Not only that, it was connected to the meter with hose clamps.

To add to that, the pipe runs under the concrete shop floor and is pieced with more hose clamps.

We are opting to have all the pipe replaced and run around the shop and connected to the house properly with a handwheel shut off valve instead of a faucet shut off under the bathtub in one of the downstairs bathrooms.

The red line is the existing pipeline and the black is where the new line with the PROPER pipes and fittings will go. The trench will turn right at the store front, left at the far right end of the shop and left again behind the shop and into the house on the other side of the store, which is the back of the house.

A one day job turned into 3 with another backhoe to rent.

Oh Terrie, that's horrible!! I hate when people "cobb job" things together! At least once this is done, it'll be done properly.

Good luck!!
