All my baby buttons, gone....

Thanks everyone. It's just been a rough couple of days. Some silkie eggs I was impatiently waiting for arrived... completely scrambled. You can actually see liquid sloshing around in them. Then the baby buttons. Then I found out some eggs I ordered on E-bay (that I had really wanted) were shipped to the wrong address. I had to pull myself from the January swap due to my button hens head injury ( she hasn't been laying because of it.)

Everything just kinda sucks right now....pardon the crude language. Sorry to be so glum...time to head for bed...hopefully tomorrow will be a brighter, better day. Thanks for all the hugs, they were greatly appreciated!

It always sucks when these things happen. I've heard stories like this dozens of times on hamster, gerbil, guinea pig, rabbit, etc... forums. Dogs and often even cats should not be left home alone with any other pets. Not even with the pets in a sturdy cage that you think is too high up for the dog. I've heard of tables, dressers, and book shelves being knocked over to get to small pets. I know one person who's dogs broke out of their crates and then into the guinea pigs' cages. That's why I won't leave my dog unsupervised without a solid locking door between her and any other animals in the house. I won't even leave her loose with the cats despite the fact she helped raise one of the cats from a 3week old kitten and plays with her all the time. A dog and especially a large 80+ lb one like my akita can do so much damage completely on accident and if I'm not home that could mean disaster.

Thanks...so much.

Wendy, I put the silkie eggs in the bator...just in case. But I've never seen eggs slosh around like this. There's literally bubbles in there from moving around. I don't even know if it was worth the incubator space.

AK_Button_Mama- Yes, Harley knows he blew it. He wouldn't even come near me last night. I wanted to show him the buttons and tell him it was not okay and he wouldn't come. He ran upstairs etc. So he knew it wasn't okay. When he finally came to me, he crawled and immediately flipped over on his back, showing me his belly.

Akane- I know the resposibility for this happening is all mine. I should have put the brooder upstairs in the bathroom or a bedroom that could be closed off. He's a hunting dog, and a bird dog....you're right, I should have known. I was up all night, thinking about that very fact.
