All my chickens have stopped laying

No they are not separated by breed but by age. There are approx forty birds in each of the six coops.

Crowded.....could be part of the problem.

This still seems small to me. I was under the impression that you need about 4sq. feet per bird in the coop. A 5x5x10 would allow for about 12-13 birds I think. Mine is 4x8x4 and I have four birds (they obviously have way more space than they "need" but I want them to be happy).

Unless someone corrects me, it seems that for 40 birds, you should have about 160 sq. feet in each coop.

Dimensions for a 'box' are usually given Width x Length x Height.

Dimensions of a floor plan or foot print of a building are usually given Width x Length.

My chicken houses are five foot front to back ten foot left to right and five foot tall. They are attached to runs that are ten foot wide by sixteen feet long by seven feet tall that gives them 160 square feet of floor space on the ground and fifty square feet in the house. I have six of these houses plus one acre that they free range on. I hope that clarifies things better.

Your dimensions are precisely what I thought, but thank you for clarifying.

My understanding is that each coop needs to have 4sq. feet of space per bird. If you have 40 birds inside the coop, that would mean the coop should be 10x16 to allow enough room for the birds to settle and not be stressed.

In addition, the run should allot at least 10 sq. feet per bird (if they are locked up in all day as mine are), and for 40 birds, that would be 400 square feet. If yours are able to free-range, I don't think the size of the run is going to matter really.

But I would still be concerned with over-crowding in a coop that has 50 square feet for 40 birds when it should be 160 square feet. They might be very stressed in that situation.

It does......still very tight on space...as already pointed out.
Not sure why you have so many layers or what your goals are....if it's egg sales, you might be shooting yourself in the foot.
