All my crazy projet ideas!

I have a feeling part of it is many people who create fad crosses don't really have an understanding of genetics so they assume if you get all black chicks from the cross you will never get white chicks. Or they just have Leghorns on hand and never even consider getting a recessive white breed. To be fair Leghorns are the most common and more similar in type to Cemanis but I believe white Phoenix would be better. And Cackle hatchery has those!

That’s a good point. I never would of though to use recessive white. Though I personally don’t like working with recessive genes so I probably would of went the easy route.

Working with Recessive White takes just as as many generations to fix pure white coloring as dominant white, if not less. Imo. Dominant white does give paints in the first generation but paint to paint produces just as many homozygous whites as Recessive White carrier to Recessive White carrier.
But if you want paints then obviously Dominant White is better.
Overall, I prefer working with recessive genes if they are the gene I want. If I want a dominant gene recessive genes will always be the bane of my existence. Currently I am trying vet the yellow skin gene out of one of my projects and it's painful because once the test chicks hatch you can't even tell if they have it yet.

I heard this as well. Though I've also heard it doesn't actually matter so I'm just confused about that now.
I agree because I have Chamois Spitzhauben and there is no issues with good slate colored leggs.

I do think white Phoenix are the best way to go on that cross. You keep the dark legs and my Phoenix from Cackle are egg machines only stopping for the few broodies i have in them.

My base birds were leghorn mix hens with ayam cemani rooster. I'm considering using white rocks (recessive white, right?)

The person I'm working with on them doesnt care about doing multi-gen crosses, which you would need to do if you're using a recessive white bird. I, on the other hand, want to make a zombie that breeds true, first in color, then in body-type

Yeah the person I am working with doesn't care about getting pure-white feathered birds (she has a really big chicken business around here, so she is very business minded. She says people will just buy the f1s with leakage and not care Abt the pure-white feathered birds, so she doesn't care either
