I think there is reason to hold out hope on the red one for now.

The red one could be a "stealth" rooster. They hold out as long as they can, figuring you will get attached to them, then one day they crow and it's all over.

Just a quick update. The red one sprouted some emerald tail feathers

Can you add a picture? The emerald tail feathers does not sound good. Some hens have green tail feathers too but not as large as a males sickle feathers.

I can try in a little bit. I figured the emerald tail feathers were a for sure rooster thing

The link is to a really old thread but in post 6 you can see the hen has green tail feathers.
I think Speckledhen explains it well in the link.

I would agree with what she posted that many dark feathered hens can and will have green in the tail.

This link can help you identify if the bird has indeed got sickle feathers and shows nicely the hackle and saddle feathering of a rooster.
