Am I the only one who’s experiencing this? I didn’t realize people would be hoarding it so I only have enough feed to last to the end of this week. Really hoping I can get my hands on some ASAP! Any suggestions? Anyone else experiencing this worry?

Not yet, didn’t even think to actually! Thank you for the suggestion. When I get worried I just can’t think straight sometimes 🥺

Depending on where ya at you might have to find a smaller mom and pop farm supply. I get my chicken feed from a guy that runs a custom feed mix store out of his shop in the town over that only has a gas station. If it wasn't for word of mouth you wouldn't even knew he had a business there out in the sticks.

Surprised me to find it in a wal mart in a big city over a hour away. The 2 super centers in more rural areas 20 minutes away don't even carry chicken stuff.

Gaah. I was wondering if that would happen

I been saying when. So far there isn't any proven shortages on anything but testing kits. Just people being greedy and hoarding everything without buying limits on it.

Then again when I go to the store I look like an a-hole. I only go once a month so I buy in bulk so now everybody gives me the stink eye.

Are they just out of chick feed? Or any kind of poultry feed? What did your local feed store recommend? When are they getting more? Honestly I'd just feed them whatever I could get my hands on as long as it's for poultry. Preferably some type of grower or something. Or grab some COB, grind it down yourself, and add some protein into it (there are calculations for this).

I keep a mixed flock so it's basically a free for all between the chicks, adult hens, turkeys and now ducklings. I just put out both types of feed and let them eat what they want. The neediest birds do take priority. For example the turkey and ducks have specialized needs but the chicks and hens can eat the turkey/duck food without ill effect.

Chin up, you'll find something! Just start making some calls tomorrow.

Some pet stores, especially independent ones, might also carry chicken feed. There's at least 3 dog/cat food stores near me that carry some chicken feed as well, not a big selection but still better than nothing.

Where do you live? I have about 40 lbs left of DuMOR Poultry Chick Starter 24% that I can ship to you if it can help...at least it would be on its way while you try to look up local, independent shops that can help or at least give you info on local contacts who may have a small supply until more feed comes in
