I wouldn’t say I collect antiques or vintage items necessarily but I don’t a lot of thrift and antique shop shopping and sometimes I find interesting stuff. Mainly I collect books. The oldest ones I’ve brought home are an old school library copy of A Separate Peace by John Knowles that was published in 1969
And a book called The Contemporary English Drama by Thomas H. Dickson published in 1917. I have a few more that I’ll post if anyone is interested in hearing about them.View attachment 3023054

These are all the ones I currently have with me. I’ve got a few more in storage at my grandparents.

1939 edition of The Clue of the Tapping Heels. I’m not sure if I was given this one by a friend cleaning out their library or if I picked it up at a thrift store.

Not quite as old as I thought it was this edition is from 1974. It’s interesting to see jus how much the gardening rules and recommendations have changed in just 50 years.

This belonged to my grandmother when she was a kid. It was passed on to me a few years ago as I was the only avid reader among the grandkids. 1948

And the last one I have access to right now is my moms copy of Raggedy Ann published 1961.

I love older books and want to collect more but I currently lack both storage space and proper conditions for it so it will have to wait a few years until I can move to a house with a better space.

These are cool! I have some older gardening books and cookbooks that were given to me. I should check to see just how old they are.

@Artichoke Lover - It is so nice to see someone who appreciates old books as well! I have a knack for anything 1940s and older primarily, and in particular 100+ years old. I'll have to do some sorting but I believe my oldest currently is 1890s? Yet, I have not actually read any of them through! I thumbed through an early 1900s book and there was some much outdated/offensive terms within due to the time period, but I have another called The Blue Flower that is a true blue first edition from 1902 that I really need to set aside and read.

not sure if it counts but been on vintage hunting/fishing stuff for a while,

got quite a few fishing rods and reels that range in the 60s and 70s strangest (or most unique) one i found was a vintage ocean rod. might not be strange for most, ,but am in one of the only two land locked provinces in Canada, nearest ocean is 24 plus hours away from me.
