All Time Favorite Book

Eragon trilogy, The Narnia Books, The Ranger's Apprentice, Dragon Rider, Inkheart and Inkspell. Eragon is interesting and is about dragons. Narnia is creative and fun. The Ranger's Apprentice is fast paced and utterly amazing. Dragon Rider keeps your interest and is about dragons. Inkheart and Inkspell is very different and worth looking at. (Of course ALL of them are)

You beat me to it, MissPrissy! I have always loved that book and movie. My second favorite would be The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy. I've read it three times. It has one of the best opening paragraphs of any book I've ever read and there have been a LOT of books.

Jen - Have you ever read "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman"? I read that years ago, and enjoyed it. Granted, it's not for everyone...

My favorite is Harry Potter. It isn't just a kids book. This is the first book I ever read on my own. I also like Eragon, the Dragon prince and Star series. I like Narnia, the God Wars, and the Lord of the Rings. I hope you can find what you are looking for.

I'm looking at my bookshelves right now. I only keep "absolute favorites"! HA! Two big bookshelves of absolute favorites.

Sci-Fi: The Bug Wars by Robert Asprin

Cyberpunk: Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson

Classic: The Good Earth by Pearl Buck

Farming: All Flesh is Grass by Gene Logsdon

Fantasy: This one's a toughie, I read mostly fantasy, and there are a lot of great ones out there.

My favorite is probably The Malazan Book of the Fallen Series by Steven Erikson. It's a little hard to get into at first, but worth it! (If you're into that sort of thing

Also, the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. They are much lighter reading, and loads of fun. I think they qualify as fantasy, anyway. They are set in modern day Chicago, and the protagonist is a professional wizard with a great sense of humor. Of course, I'm biased. I'm in love with Harry Dresden. Don't tell my husband!

Well, the one that sticks in my mind the most is one I read as a child. It's old and not very long, but I think it has made as much an impact in my life as anything else has. The title is "A Penny's Worth of Character". I don't know the Author. It's about a young boy's struggle with his conscience.

I got that as a book-on-tape last year. It was great. What a challenging person he must have been. He died a few years ago, but I think his son(s) are carrying on his legacy.
