all who are hatching quail

I wouldn't have locked down early. I think a day late would have been safe then a day early. I'd still turn then at least one more time tonight as long as you don't see any pipped. Even with my incubator running hot I don't think I've had any pip earlier then 16 days.

If the window fogs up your good.

You think at 14 days they could still stick to the sides? I will be home earlier than I thought tonight, so I will turn them once more. Glass did not fog, but my fan is between the glass. I will add more water to the sponge to be safe. I floated them, because the incubator smelled and I couldn't figure out which ones were bad. 56 of the 60 I had floated and most were moving. I think since they are moving inside it would be hard for the embryo to stick to the side.

Wow! I has several typos I didn't catch. I'm not to good at typing on a phone.

Anyhow yes. They can get deformed from the egg being on one side to long. They usually grow out of it in a day or two if they are going to. Gimpy birds are sometimes more work if you grow them out.

I guess I didn't think of that. This is my first hatch, so hopefully turning them tonight saves them from deformities. Thank for the help!

I lost a chick a few days ago. I'm not sure, but I think it was injured when they were startled real bad and I found it dead the next morning. That leaves 23 remaining and today, they're 10 day old. Time to order the next batch of eggs!

:( I hate it when a chick dies. Especially when you have no idea why or you just are sitting there guessing. I'm sorry for the loss but let's hope that the others will continue down the path leading to adulthood. They grow so fast!

400

every other week I have this many hatch

I had 56 viable eggs when I floated the on day 14. One hatched on day 15.5. It is now day 16.5 no others have hatched, but I have seen eggs moving. Is it typical to have one hatch so much earlier than the rest?
