is it tall enough that when they are surprised, that they wont 'pop' and hit their head. i lost one this summer that way
yeah dc my ceiling was 2 ft off the ground and he bonked and broke his neck :/It is probably low enough to avoid that. I like to either keep the ceiling above 3 feet or below 12". When its low they can't usually generate enough force to bonk themselves to death.
This looks very cool. But, how did he attach the yellow base and how are you keeping it upright? Sorry to ask so many questions! (I'm setting up my brooder now.)
A screw goes through the centre of the cap and the bottle lid. Its never more than quarter full and leans gently in the corner .. I used a tiny piece of double sided tape to encourage it. Simple, cheap, effective... questions are good I have asked lots here and found a generous and kind bunch of poultry enthusiasts
