I wouldn't add water or food to the hatcher. The babies can stay in the hatcher for a day or two without food or water since they just absorbed the yolk. I usually leave them in until they are all hatched and dried off. 120 that's a lot of chicks, If you have alot hatched before you leave you can quickly take them out and put them in a tub with a heat lamp with food and water. add a little more warm water to the hatcher since you opened it though. Although, I've never hatched that many at one time, so anyone with this type of experience please chime in.I will b leaving town saturday morning around 4 am and b home around midnight i have 120 coturix due to hatch friday i have a good size hatching tray proly 28" x24" should i leave them in there with water and food or put them in my brooder witch stays between 88 and 95 depending how the temp in my shop swings and im not there to adjust it or should i just put them in a big tub with a heat lamp?
keeping my fingers crossed for a great hatch for you.
