Chicks are the best. I'm so glad I hatched my quailies. They are getting smelly now so looking forward to thinning the numbers!

They are. The cuteness factor is WAY up with little fuzzy butts popping all over!

I had supposed to be tuxedos hatch today. One is white and one I'm not sure what color...def not tux though, lol. They're the only survivors of 27 eggs shipped to me. The whole package was leaking egg goo and only a few weren't crushed. These two are the lucky ones!

My chicks hatched yesterday morning. 23 out of 24. (One was a dud.) Couldn't be more thrilled!

Yes, I ended up with about 50/50 between Italians and Pharoahs as well as two whites. Wasn't expecting the whites but they are super cute!

I really think the lady I got the eggs from was confused on what egg were on what day. I have a total of 14 eggs, 10 of which were on day 12 of incubation and the other 4 were on day two when I got them from here. 1 hatched on day 16 and died 3 days later. Then I had 2 more hatch on day 20, 3 more on day 22, and 2 more on day 23 while I am still waiting on the last two. Just a little frustrating when you want all of them to be born within a few days of each other.

You bought eggs half way through incubation?! Quail eggs are small and cool quickly. You cannot move them.

I was under the impression that I was getting a dozen +2 free eggs that had not been in an incubator. As I was leaving she said that 10 of them were on day 12 and the other 4 on day 2. So far I have had 8 quail hatch from the first 10 and two still show signs of life inside while the other 4 are on day 14 now. So they will come off of the turner tonight. I am pretty lucky I guess. Not what I thought it was going to be for me just getting started out.
