all who are hatching quail

Just curious ... for those who are breeding for size, do you keep track by weighing the birds right after hatched? Would like to know what's the reasonable expectation if you get this done right?

I started out with JMF jumbo eggs, set apart the heaviest birds as parents and then selected eggs that are minimum 15 g to incubate. The best result I've gotten so far is 11 g right after hatched and about 40 g after one week.

I'm pretty happy with the result, but wonder how others are doing this. If you don't mind please share your approaches and results. Thanks.

I'm going to start breeding for size, but first I have to get some jumbos. I just had my first group of Georgia giants hatch. I have butlers and snow flakes in the bator now

My Georgia Giants hatching this morning

Please help? so I'm at day 22 going on 23 of my incubating 25 bobwhite eggs. So a day before lockdown I took out the dud eggs I knew were absolutely gone to spare room, so now I have 20 eggs. Like I said I'm in lockdown and am eagerly waiting for my chicks, even though it's only day 22-23 I'm getting kind of worried about my eggs...Should I at least have heard some chirping by now or some indication of the chicks? Yesterday me and my dad swore we heard some type of very faint light scraping-but that only occured 1-2 times in a span of 10 seconds and it was VERY light. Anyway, my temperature has been between 99-100 degrees and humidity between 65-75%, is this correct for lockdown? And I started lockdown on day 21 which was the top recommendation from many people/sites if that's any help.
I candled my eggs on day 18 and saw some eggs with limited veins and it was dark inside, which someone told me is a sign of the fetus/chick and that they might hatch earlier than others?? I know I still have like 2-3 more days before all hope is lost but I'm just pretty stressed and need some reassurance...Any advice or words of wisdom-would LOVE to hear it! Thanks again guys for all your help, really appreciate it

Have you tried tapping lightly against the bator? I'm on day 21 with bobwhites and when I do that some rock back and forth. Sometimes whistling evokes pips too. I have a dif problem in that I wasn't ready to lock down yet and the bator was still turning them, when I realized I already had some zipping. The water was low, I hadn't removed the turner in my mini advance Brinsea and had to make a decision fast. I took the dome off, filled both reservoirs and put it back on quickly. I turned the turner off manually. Now I am still getting rocking from some when I tap the outside of the dome. I'd say just wait it out and keep it locked down the so the humidity stays high. My opening it was bad timing but knew the humidity was too low for a successful hatch so had to make that choice.

Thank you so much for the advice! I have not, but I definitely will since the incubator is 1 ft. away from me as we speak (overprotective mother) I'll also try to whistle a little bit, but when I whistle what should I be listening for? I also had some difficulties with starting lockdown since I have a homemade bator-I couldn't get the temp. down and the humidity up! I finally regulated it on the night of day 21. Like I said I candled them on day 18 & 20 and I already said about the veins and all and I DID see some movement- like slow baby chick movement.
