I'll be at the Allegan County Fair tomorrow (Sept. 7) enjoying the Poultry Barn, among other things.

Is anyone showing their birds at this fair?

I had a blast at the fair today. I always try to go to a fair at least once per year. It makes me feel like a kid again (although there's no way I'd get on any of those rides after working at a real amusement park and seeing what ride safety actually requires!).

I spent quite a while in the poultry barn. There weren't that many birds entered, unfortunately. Half the barn was chickens and the other half was rabbits, which is pretty normal around here. It seemed that there were a lot more bantams being shown than standard-size birds. I saw some Polish, lots of D'Uccles and Silkies. There were quite a few Japanese bantams in there, and a few Phoenix. The most unique birds there were an OE Crele rooster (handsome!) and a pair of Golden Campines. There was a gorgeous black Cochin that I probably liked the best of all.

After checking out all the livestock, I had myself a funnel cake and bought a big bag of cotton candy to take home to my DH.

If I saw a BYCer's bird at the fair today, let me know how you did!
