We are 6 months into our chicken journey. We have a wonderful flock of egg laying pullets. We also just found out my 3 year old daughter is allergic to eggs. 😭 I'm so bummed! Just when we're all excited about getting fresh eggs, we have to stop using them in our cooking (at least for my daughter).

I'm so sorry to hear this.

My sister was allergic to eating eggs... but she outgrew it! I remember the doctor saying it is pretty common for kiddos to grow out of this allergy, if I remember correctly. Just stay the course egg-free for her... and you never know what will come!

Thank you! I hope it goes that way. Her doctor said to avoid eggs for a year and see what happens.

Fingers crossed that she can enjoy your chicken's farm fresh butt nuggets next year! :hugs I'm sure she will enjoy the chickens until that time comes, anyway... silly chickens are always fun to watch!

It wasn't an actual allergy, but a couple of my kids had eczema flare-ups after eating eggs, so I'm mostly avoided eggs for the first couple years of their lives. Both are good now and can eat eggs just fine. Hopefully that will be the case with your daughter. šŸ‘

I hope so. Thank you for sharing your experience!

I hope this is not a permanent allergy.

I have one friend who are allergic to any type of nuts.
I have another friend who has server allergic reaction to all seafood.

I hope it's just a childhood thing to grow out of. As an adult, I can't eat gluten or cow dairy, so we're used to working around dietary restrictions. Eggs is such a bummer though!

What exactly are you feeding your chickens?

Sometimes it's not the eggs, but something in the feed such as fish meal or shrimp waste etc.
