Allergic to store eggs?

Ever heard of someone allergic to store eggs but not farm fresh chicken eggs? I've been with my wife for 7 years now and her mother has always avoided eggs saying it makes her sick, but in the last year she has started eating my fresh eggs and they don't bother her. I wonder what that could be? I would think a chicken egg is a chicken egg, I have heard that people with egg allergies can usually eat duck eggs but this is obviously not that situation.

I have read that a few times on here, where someone says they can't tolerate store bought eggs but can tolerate home eggs.

I have found that the store bought eggs smell really bad when I am boiling them and our chickens' eggs don't. Also I used to have problems occasionally with stomach upset/gut upset with store bought eggs, but not with our chickens' eggs. But it was only an occasional thing- I think it may have been related to bacteria, myself, but I am just guessing.

Perhaps it is the antibiotics and other chemicals that the store bought eggs are exposed to prior to entering the store. Also they heavily wash the eggs in chemicals. Just my guess....

I would get nausea very badly with store bought-. I am fine with our eggs.

It is very possible that they are allergic to something in the feed that is given to the hens. We can never know with store bought eggs.
I have 2 relatives that are extremely allergic to gluten and cannot eat any eggs - store bought or 'farm fresh'. Eating eggs resulted in rapid extreme bowel pain and other bowel calamities.
We did an experiment and I stopped feeding my hens feed or anything else that had wheat or any wheat products in it. I did this for about a week and then gave them eggs to eat. Result: No problems whatsoever! Now they can have eggs (but only mine)!
I checked with a certified nutritionist and she said that gluten from wheat most definitely gets into the egg, almost unchanged from its original molecular makeup. This is probably true with most of the 'stuff' that is in chicken feed, medication and anything else we feed or give to them.
We eat what they eat...

Soy and gluten, two huge under-detected allergies/sensitivity causers, are not changed when they go into the egg. So if you are allergic to soy, and you ate an egg from a hen that ate soy, you would ingest the soy.

I know this because someone on BYC was just talking about gluten-free chicken feed.

I was just googling this, lol (necro thread pop) and I'm gluten intolerant and can't eat store bought eggs. We do offer a layer feed to our hens who are laying - BUT, they mostly free-range. I've been able to eat their eggs (after being diagnosed with an egg allergy by a doctor from eating store bought eggs) due to the destruction of my gut, the heartburn, and the pain in my intestines, that included shedding some of the lining of my intestines until I stopped eating store bought eggs.

Egg Allergy Diagnosed.

However - I've eaten our farm fresh eggs, and no reaction. No heartburn, No pain. No reaction..... I don't feed them gluten-table scraps, since we cook mostly organic/meats/potatoes/corn/rice products. So, even their table scraps are gluten-free.

So far, so good. Crossing my fingers. If I can eat their eggs, and it turns out that store bought eggs were ano-go because of gluten... this will change my life. I *love* eggs.

I am 57 years old, last year I found out that I was not allergic to duck eggs. I have gone my life avoiding eggs.
I raise chickens eggs for the family and friends, and I have 4 hybrid 369 duck for me. I do share extra.
It's is nice to not to not have to avoid foods now.
