I have a silent roo too, a 4 month old Marans. He is probably the smartest chicken I've got and is keeping quiet to stay on my Jersey Giant's good side. He has a HUGE comb though, and definitely intends to breed. I think Hero (the Jersey) will let him if he's not obnoxious. We'll see. My third roo, a 17 month old Easter Egger, crows bloody murder almost all day, it's so funny because even though Hero is king (and crows like it), he lets the EE do a lot of the work!
