Almost 8 month barred rock has never laid any eggs

Hi! My barred rock is almost 8 months old and has never laid an egg. Does anyone know why that is?

Said chicken is 8 months. It’s not likely that they wouldn’t have noticed if it was male.

You'd be amazed... I've seen photos of very obvious roosters on here, spurs, arched tail, long hackles and saddle, whole 9 yards, with "Is this a girl?" attached to it.

As to OP's original question, assuming it is a girl, she could just be very slow to mature, or a dud.

I've done the same thing myself.....he had spurs and everything.
Barred Rocks seem relatively early layers, but I have had pullets lay at 8+ months.
Some just take their sweet time.
