My hen is raising 4 poults. I put one more up, and it apparently wasnt ready for her. I came up tonight to find it life-lessly laying on the ground. I picked it up, thinking it was dead, but i heard it breathing. I ran down to my brooder for ducks, and put the light inches away from it. It is awake, alive, and doing pretty well. However, i have a question. My dad had to help one turkey out of his egg, and now he is fine, except his neck. It droops. He tries to walk and tumbles. However, if i hold him i can put it up normally, so i think as he eats and gains strength it will be fixed. Any thoughts?

All you can do is wait and see. Sometimes they stay like that, sometimes they recover. More often than not, a chick that needs help out of the shell has little chance for survival- it's usually too weak, or has a genetic defect, etc.

I hope it works out for you!
