I was at tractor supply today (not buying poultry) and couldn't resist peeking at the chicks and other birds. I don't need ducks and have enough with my chickens but holy cow when I glanced in at the ducks one stood up cocked its head at me and gave the cutest little quack. It was hard to resist but I made it out without them and something I would have a hard time explaining to my wife. Maybe some other time.

Go back and buy those ducks! Just do it... That's how I got ducks. At was at Farm and Fleet and saw ducklings and could not resist. I love the ducks. They walk all over the yard, even though I've given them a fenced in pond, and are full of personality. We currently have four Rouens. They are great. Aside from keeping their water clean, they are easy to manage. Mine are great at finding their own food even. I feed them once a day, but they are always nibbling on weeds and the tips of grass. They don't seem to pull up the grass nor eat it to the ground as long as there's plenty to graze. My suburban backyard lawn is apparently more than enough for the four ducks.

This is our second hatch and 4th brood. You would think you would be less nervous as time goes on. I took the first one out of the ‘bator because she was knocking the other eggs all over the place. Will not go to sleep until another hatches for her to cuddle with in the heat cave

I put a mirror in with the first hatched and amazingly they always go right to it! I take mine out of the incubator once they start moving around a lot and disrubting the other eggs too. I also take out the gross shells.

I’m glad someone has more restraint than me! I was actually trying to hatch ducklings, but that didn’t work out. A friend was at TSC buying stuff for his small yard in the city, and texted me a pic of the ducklings. I drive up there to NH last week, as our tsc only has chickens.
Of course I went “just to look” and almost didn’t buy them because I didn’t really want more pekins. I ended up with 2. They love us! I spend lots of time with them thanks to Covid, they’ve really been great in this lousy time.
