We originally were going to convert an old single stall horse barn into a giant coop, but weather, my husband work schedule and cost all worked against us and the ladies were quickly running out of room in the brooder so we ended up just building a smaller A frame structure instead.

Costs us about $450 in materials and took 2 days so far. It's not completly finished - We still need to finish the nesting boxes, add more sections to the ramp and add a piece to the roof to keep water out.

Its not perfect since we kind of just winged it on the build. Wish i thought to get picturess during the construction, but the jist of it: The base is 8x6ft and the coop is 6x4ft and it's about 7ft tall. The chicken door opens/closes by sliding sideways from the inside and part of the roof lifts up for easy cleaning. The nesting boxes are going to be mounted onto the back

Nice coop for your chickens.
I cant see $450 in materials unless there is something not in picture.

I might be off on the price, and I sure we didn't build some parts as cost effective as we could have, but the initially we spent $300 in supplies, then had to go back two more times for other things we forgot or messed up, which was about $100-130 more. It's also braced pretty well - we were easily able to stand inside the coop.

You can also restore the barn later...you know, cuz chicken math happens :ya
Haha we have talked about that but we realized that the shed behind the coop on the picture is falling down so I think we're are going to use the old barn as storage instead and just add on to this coop later when get more chickens. We've already started talking about how we plan to add to it haha:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy
