Hi.I have a half dark brahma half black giant cochin rooster and last year i used him because his father died and he looks more like a dark braham and in 40 eggs just one was fertile. What could be the problem?

This is the father:
In the back right of the rooster is the black head of the mother

If he is an extremely fluffy bird and the hens are also fluffy, he may not be making contact. Try plucking his and the hen's vent feathers so that he has a better chance of getting the job done.
Yes he is very fluffy I call him round ass

Cochins frequently have fertility issues because of excessive feathering. He's evidently fertile as he sired one chick. I'm guessing he's not making proper contact and therefore not inseminating the hens. Try giving him and the hens somewhat more of a bare butt.

Ok i will try this in the spring.I wrote all this stuff because i was going to give it to a friend of mine ho likes cochins and doesnt want to breed them, now that i know i am going to keep him. With the hens i have no problem,2 years ago i used them with his father and i got 30 chick's there is no need to trim the hens.
