Figured you cheezeheads needed a good belly laugh, so here goes:
I was canning potatoes today. Got my first batch out and put in the second batch. I put down a thick towel, generally, to set the jars on. Today I thought it was a brilliant idea to use a cotton rug, doubled. Turn the heat on the canner, got her going good. Walked into the pantry, and when I came out, I noticed the rug was on fire. Had a flame about a foot high. Grabbed a SMALL glass off the counter filled it with water, poured it on the fire, not enough, go back for more. Had to make four trips before it was completely out. A smart person would have used the biggest container they could get a hold of quickly, but, I guess I figured I needed the exercise running back and forth. Ahhhhh. It is great getting old, you don't always think about everything.
