Lost one to overcrowding today... moved em into a 300 gallon stock tank and they seem much happier. About to improve their diet; had them on unlimited amounts of brown rice and finely chopped new bamboo leaves for their first 10 days and days 3-10 fed them a finely shredded hard boiled egg. View attachment 1069561 Aloha Y'all! Just wanted to say hello and thank all of you who contribute regularly (and not so regularly ;):p) for all the information shared here. It is a wealth of knowledge for absolute beginners like me. We just recieved our first box of day old chicks in the mail :weeand have most certainly been bitten with chicken fever. Now I gotta get that coop built! Anyhow so here's our little ladies in their little brooder. Just got it covered with fiberglass window screen to prevent escapees. I have plans for at least another 75 birds or so in the upcoming couple of years and will photodocument some of that process along the way. Thanks again for sharing. Looking forward to our new adventure. Aloha!
Maui, HI every year for 4 weeks of rest/relaxation....Ya'll know how to slow time down, lol. I'm stealing your idea of the pans with screen to put water on.....:yesss:. I've got 80 chickens and I finally had to focus, lol, and go to certain breeds. So I have 60 mix and match for eggs and 20 of certain breeds to focus on and hatch their eggs to sell pretty little baby chickies. So glad you found info you could use, but the thing I love most about BYC is the support......
