Thing is, I already HAVE mature girls that are laying now. But I still can't wait to get those first eggs from my NEW girls! I guess it never gets old. They're 17 weeks now... tick tock...tick tock...

All of mine are getting free rent as well, except for the laying hens I bought because I couldn't stand the waiting. I get fresh farm eggs now, but since "my" girls are turning red and starting to sing the eggs song it's still horrible waiting. The anticipation is KILLING me!

Me too! I have 6 that are 16 weeks old. The rest are a little behind... 7 are 13 weeks and 4 are 11 weeks. These are my first girls so I am waiting on my VERY FIRST EGG!

I'll admit, I totally lucked out on my VERY first eggs. I got my first girls (The Phyllises) from a friend, and when she delivered them, they were right around 20 weeks. She brought them to my house and said "they should start laying any time now". There was an egg the very next day!

It's the Camillas I'm waiting on now, and the Margenes are in the brooder - long way to go for them yet.

I have a blue orp and a blue orp mix that I am still waiting on to lay. They are 22 weeks old. They are hugh! hens. Absolutely beautiful. But freeloading beauties. I would love to get an egg from all my hens in one day at least once. Gloria jean

Hey, what do you mean you are waiting for eggs at 16 and 17 weeks!!! My girls are over 15 weeks and I haven't even made the nesting boxes yet! Yikes!!!

List of things to do:

1) build nesting boxes.

2) wait for eggs!

I'm waiting on my 21 week buff orp to start laying. I've never had a chicken lay before, and i'm so excited. She looks and sounds like she should lay any second. I can't wait!
