Thank goodness I found this forum. I have a pullet that seemed to be dehydrated and week so I gave it some water with a syringe and it started to purk up. Then I turned on the hose softly and it started drinking and bathing. It seemed to come back to life. Two days go by and all is well eating drinking playing then I come home yesterday and the same thing again this time I noticed small bubbles in the corner of her eyes. I did a search on here and think she has a respiratory infection and plan on getting tylan 50 on my way home. I checked on her this a.m. before I left for work and her eyes was so bad I had to clean them out. I hope this stuff helps and thanks to the forum have found a lot of good info.

Tylan 50 injections may help, but you must give the correct amount depending on the age of your pullet, and if you are not familiar with injections you could do more harm than good. Lincomycin-Spectinomycin is also affective against bacterial diseases like E.coli in addition to viral respiratory problems. L-S 50 is a water soluble powder often sold at feed stores and is given at 1 tsp per gallon of water for 7 days. Sulfadimethoxine powder is also a very good remedy for respiratory bacterial/ coryza/coccidiosis problems. Dosage for it is 1 tsp per gallon for 6 days. With either medication, supplement water after treatment with vitamin-electrolyte-probiotic powder. It would be best to separate the bird from the rest in a comfortable area while you are treating her.

Thank you for the info and advice.

You're welcome and I hope that remedies your problem. If symptoms do not dissipate with treatment, then alternative treatments will be needed. My concern is if it is viral, cured symptoms do not prevent birds from being carriers and the rest of the flock may be at risk. Some birds build immunity and some do not. If a bird dies from the symptoms you describe, it would be best to have a necropsy done at a local lab to determine what disease you are dealing with. Here is a list of labs:

Another medication that has proven to be very effective against respiratory diseases is Denagard. I do not know about local availability where you are, and have never seen it sold in feed stores in my area. Hake's is a good poultry supply house that carries it:

Well its been about ten days now and the little hen seems to be doing great except she still will not hop or fly in the coop she was able to do this before. Also it seems as if her equilibrium is a little off but not sure. She eats, drinks, plays and seems up to par but very easy to get knocked off track buy another chicken if they bump her.Just not sure if this is normal and will go away or if something else is wrong any info or thoughts would be appreciated.

Which antibiotic did you choose to use and what was the dosage? If you ran a treatment of antibiotics these last ten days, are you now supplementing water with vitamin-electrolyte-probiotic powder?

I used the L-S 50 for six days and skipped a day before starting the vitamin-electrlyte forgot to give it to her at first is the only reason for skipping one day.

Okay. Depending on the vitamin-electrolyte you are using, make sure it is labeled for poultry, and you are giving the correct dose in water. The bird may be wobbly due to limited E vitamin and selenium the last week. For good gut function for absorption of nutrients, probiotics help when used with vitamin supplementation. Some vitamin powder packs have probiotics in them and some do not. For those that do not, Probios dispersible powder is a very good product, and most feed stores carry it:

Do it 2-3 times a week and you'll see tighter droppings, and overall better health during breeding season, hot weather, moulting, etc. Make sure the bird you treated is drinking and has a good appetite.
