Already Thinking About Spring...

I over extended myself big time when I set up my new flock this fall and promised my husband I wouldn't get any more chickens. So, I'm thinking about doing the only responsible thing and getting a few turkeys

I mentioned geese and he made a face I've never seen before. Oh well, we've got all winter to decide!

I have 22 chickens right now. I plan on getting 10 more chicks in the spring. Breedwise, I'll probably get either wyandottes, a hybrid breed, or barred rocks.

I want ducks too but since we live in town (and don’t have any kind of “water feature” for them), they’ll have to wait (along with my donkeys and goats) until we have a hobby farm of our own.

I love barred rocks; probably my favorite breed overall. My head hen is a BR and she’s so personable and entertaining (not to mention the huge pink-tan eggs she lays when she’s not molting).

Yeah, I have one barred rock hen and she is so pretty. I want more of them.

Just pre-ordered chicks for spring 2019; German Bielefelder and Crested Cream Legbar from Alchemist Farm in Sebastopol, CA! Excited to add some unique breeds and colorful egg layers to my small flock.

How about everyone else? I would love to hear what you're planning on adding to your flocks!

I was thinking the same exact thing! I'm starting a small flock of 3 buff orpingtons in spring '19. CANT WAIT!!!!!!

I just placed a Soring order for 3 Olive Eggers, 3 Tinted layers, 3 BCM, and 3 Blue layers (CCL). I’ll be adding to my current flock of 13.

Then next year I can either add about 10-12 more or possibly start hatching my own.
