Alright Goat People!!! I Need Help!!! *edited with new pics pg4*

Oh - how cute is he!!! Looks a little unsure about all that snow.

Be sure to take his collar off except for moving from one place to another. I've read many stories of goats hanging themselves.

Keep us updated on the little guy. I don't remember, but do you already have a goat for a buddy? They are herd animals.

If cow milk was bad for baby goats my whole kid crop from the last five years I raised goats would have died. Cow milk is just fine for kid goats. Replacer is iffy. Some can digest it, some can't.

I am working on getting him a buddy.

The lady I got him from has another boy but she is trying to keep him. I don't think she will be as they are more into the money than keeping pets. But even so they are having kids right now so I can get him a younger one if I want this weekend.
The collar is a simple snap on and off so we can easily put it on and off him.

I think any animal can easily harm themselves if they have to wear a collar 24/7.
He likes the snow. He was unsure about the kids all running in different directions and he didn't know who to follow! He finally picked one. lol

pasteurized milk may not be the ideal (its mothers milk is if she is disease free) but just feeding raw milk willy nilly can give your goat baby CAE or Johnes.
Replacer kills many kids a year. Grocery store whole cows milk may not be the same as goats milk but my bottle babies are always fatter and sassier then the dam raised ones so I cant agree that cows milk really is any inferior in a real life situation.

I can vouch for the whole cow's milk, also. The kid that we bottle raised on it last year grew a lot faster and was a lot healthier than the one we raised on powdered formula.

He is doing pretty good on his own. He has the kid chow, hay, minerals, probiotics and water. He takes it all on his own. He fought me all the time with the milk so I just laid off on it.

You really want to get him a friend. And we band our own goats, it doesn't hurt them. They just get mad at being held down.
We had twin boers today and another set that are 2 weeks old today. Both Mama's had a doe and Buck Winnie, Tigger, Walnut and Pistachio

All my bottle babies had scours until I started using whole cows milk. I read online about this, theres quite a bit of info if you google it. Good luck!

Congrats on your new babies.

But I am getting him some buddies. Actually going tomorrow to see about 2 and possibly bringing the girls home.
Banding may not hurt but I don't like the idea of rotting body parts.

It really comes down to common sense. If cow's milk was nutritionally superior for a goat, goats would make milk with the same composition
