Not sure if there is any other alternative food feeder out there...

I am getting button quail and I bought a 1 qt plastic little giant feeder...but my problem is that this thing is huge!!

I am keeping my button quail caged inside. Don't they make smaller version or what for button quails?

The only thing I can think of using it is hanging it from my wire cage so not to take up floor space...

Is there any feeder that someone or somebody has use that can hang outside of the wire cage (like a rabbit water bottle) and feed the quail while reducing waste and all the good stuff .?

or am I left with just this to use?

I've seen a corner chicken feeder in my local feed store, that hang on the wire of a cage and would take up less space.
I use parrot waterers that have a trough that slips through the gap in the bars of the cage and hangs on the outside of the cage. You can find feeders in that style too. They aren't big enough to last a day for coturnix quail, but they should be good for a button or two.

Edited to add; You can see pictures of the quail feeders I made in the album in my signature.

Cheers,
Jessie

I got some idea up my sleeve..

I like the corner feeder but it seem you will have to refill it a lot

How's the PVC working for you? We've made a bunch of small ones for chicks, out of 1.5" pipe, that fit in the fish tanks I use for brooders and 'chicken time out' and recovery spots. Also am planning a few for the one or 2 chicken tractors my hubby is building out of 2"... just in case they run out of good stuff to eat. I think they are fabulous, don't take up much space, reduce that whole play with the food thing... :)
I'm not into quail (yet?) but have always admired the little cuties.

This is my new PVC feeder. It's working out great, I love it.

I made two at the same time so I could perfect them and have a back up.
The tube is 2" PVC and the ports are 1". I used 3/4" for the first version and it was too narrow for quail heads. I basically made the whole thing with a PVC cutter and a dremel, plus a little bit of PVC adhesive. I have more pictures of the new one in my album now too.

Cheers,
Jessie

I build mine out of 1" PVC... I look at the 1.5" pipe but it seem too big for the button quail.

It goes inside the wire cage and is adjustable. I can lower it down and up as needed.

I haven't test it out yet as my egg are still in the incubator... I will see and maybe post some picture later in 2 weeks.
