I would be interested in using Sweet PDZ on poop boards. The problem is, that it's not sold here. The only similar products I've found have been diatomite based (DE), the most common being Drymaxx by DeLaval. So I'm wondering if anyone has had any success with some other products? I've tried researching kitty litter, but none of them seem to use zeolite in them. Pretty much the only zeolite based products I can find seem to be laundry detergents, and I doubt the chickens would appreciate having that in their coop. Not to mention possible health concerns.

So, has anyone tried using kitty litter on their poop boards, or does someone have any other good ideas? Or should I just try the Drymaxx and see if it works?

You can get it online!! No worries, just order it and it'll ship right to your door...I wouldn't use anything other than PDZ speaking for myself...LUV that stuff!! Best of luck!

Have you tried getting some zeolite from eBay or from the Internet ? It might even end up being cheaper than a named brand especially if zeolite is the only important/active ingredient. Good luck.

I don't think zeolite is the only ingredient. Probably some sort of secret mix they use.

iwiw60, with 9 bucks per 25 lbs, probably around 100 for shipping, and 24% tax added to both prices, and whatever customs duty, guessing around 5%, I'm thinking buying it online from tractor supply isn't maybe a very good idea. I'm trying to find something similar locally.

SO sorry! I didn't notice on your avatar that you're from Finland...yikes!! My bad!

No problem, just trying to find something similar, but for that kind of prices I think I can just scrape poop off of a board. I might just try with the DE on the boards, it should tie up some moisture too. Kitty litter would be cheap too, but I'd like to hear some experiences about it first.

All I've ever used is about an inch or less of pine shavings, just enough to keep the poo from sticking to the board. A 7$ bag lasts about 6 months or longer with free ranging during the day and an average of 15 chickens.

Doesn't the poop stick to the shavings? I don't have a board at the moment, in stead the poop drops into the peat underneath, but it's a bit of a treasure hunt to find everything in the mornings, and I'm not that happy about the rate of poop to peat that I'm actually taking out every day. Great for the compost, but feels like a bit of too much work. I'd like to have something that I can just scoop it out of like a kitty litter bin.

Yes, I just leave it pile up until there is quite a bit throughout the shavings over the course of a week or two the board then gets cleaned out into a wheelbarrow and hauled off to the compost pile, add some more shavings and it can sit another week or two.
The poop dries out quickly on the shavings so it doesn't smell and I have my board set where the chickens can't scratch it off
