Alternitive Flea Control Dogs

Hello everyone!! I am new to this forum; I recently read a tread from last year about using cattle/swine Ivomec to prevent heartworm in dogs. I am wondering if anyone has any experience using a cattle/swine/poultry product to control fleas on their dog(s)??

My vet tells me that about 20% will get heartworms anyway when ivomec is the only control used.

Really? That is interesting, and hard to believe, since ivermec has the same active ingredient in heartguard which is ivermectin. I think a lot of vets just want you to buy heartguard from them for lots of $$$

Just be careful, before you treat your dog for heartworms make sure they are negative of them, or the treatment will kill the dog.

but yes we have used, in the past, the Ivomec to treat our dogs
