Aluminum roofing all help appreciated

I have aluminum roofing. Works very well. My run is 15x15, and I have 2x6 rafters spanning the distance. One end is mounted to a shed. The far end is held up by a double 2x6 beam mounted atop 4 4x4 posts. There is also another beam with posts at the midpoint since I have snow loads to consider. Keeps everyone shaded and dry. I highly recommend it. On the pic below, the pen on the left has the aluminum roofing. The shed has standard asphalt shingles.

are you sure that's aluminum and not galvanized metal? aluminum in big enough sheets to roof a shed of any size would be super expensive. One way to find out for sure, take a magnet out and if it sticks, it's not aluminum.

Not trying to be argumentative, but I'd just about bet the farm that's galvanized steel roofing and not aluminum

for the OP, google 'installing a metal roof' and 'building a shed' you will find tons of 'how to' videos that will show how to frame it up, lay the perlins and attach the metal roofing. Also, do a search for metal roofing dealers in your area, they will cut the metal you pick out to the length you need it, so no over lapping, and they'll have the screws and any trim pieces (though you probably won't want to spend the money on trim) and they should also give you any pointers and tips you need

PapaChaz, I looked back at my paperwork, and you are partially right, its not aluminum and not galvanized steel, but a painted ribbed steel roof panel coated with something called Galvalum. The Galvalume coating combines aluminum, silicon and zinc to make the steel substrate have superior corrosion resistance. I loved how easy it was to install, and that it is completely maintenance free.

Gavalume is their fancy name for galvanized, the silicon and zinc are the main ingredients in the coating on anything that's galvanized. The zinc part is what makes it put off toxic fumes if heated, which is why welders wear respirators to weld it. The aluminum in the mix make it more resistant to weathering.

This is the same thing I've used on the last 2 coops I've built, and a couple of storage sheds of different sizes. Really good stuff, and a little cheaper than the painted metal roofs
