I've had 3 different breeds of geese, which I enjoyed. That ended with a Jack Russell dog that at first I thought was a puppy. Sad event, the owner paid me back for my sebastopol but later the same dog came back and got my saddleback pomeranian.
Currently I have 3 peafowl. I really need to build them a BIG pen but at the same time I'm going to hate it bc they are so accustomed to being free. They roost high up in the trees and I don't fear for them at night but don't want any more dogs or worse coming during the day. Also the first year for my hens to lay, I only retrieved 7 eggs total. Had 3 to hatch.
Biggest obstacle I've encountered other than no help from husband on building pens etc would be PREDATORS. Yes I have lost many chuckens to predators livung in the country. Oh, one last thing with chickens, I love frizzled feathers. Don't you ?
