I bought 3 of these chicks at the local feed store. They told me that they were Americanas and that they were about 3 weeks old. I am thinking that she is a Blue Americana but not sure. Can anybody confirm?

I have 8 other chicks, Buff Orps and RIR's that are just over 4 weeks and they appear to be a lot bigger than these chicks that are advertised as 3 weeks - I am thinking that they are more like 2 weeks?? Although, I think the Americanas are a smaller chicken? I guess I have a lot of questions, huh?

The legs are not according to the standard. They are supposed to be blue/yellow I believe. She's an EE. I doubt any feed store would carry true Ameraucana's.

She kind of looks like Ideal's EE's. And they are full sized bird's, sometimes even a little bigger.

Thanks for the info. I guess they were picked up at another feed store labeled as 3 week old Americana's from McMurray. You mention the legs? Do Americana's and EE's have standard different color legs?
Thanks again.

She is a typical Easter Egger chick. Nice birds, those are. I have both true Ameraucanas in blue, black and splash and a couple EEs as well. Blues look solid blue or blue-gray as babies.

EEs have no standard, so they have legs and eggs in all colors.

It sure was confusing for me also. They are three different breeds and i love them all. I bought 2 cute little EE's from my feed store and she said they were arucanas. I told her that if they were arucanas they would be rumpless. I let her know they were Easter eggers that lay green, aqua, blue, and possible pink eggs. They can lay brown and white eggs also.

The hatcheries sell them as ameraucanas and arucanas but they are not they are a total different breed.

I like the EE's so much that i now have 9.

This was a copy from the Amercana Breeders Club.

What are Easter Egg chickens?

"The Ameraucana Breeders Club defines an Easter Egg Chicken or Easter Egger as any chicken that possesses the blue egg gene, but doesn’t fully meet any breed description as defined in the APA and/or ABA standards. Further, even if a bird meets a standard breed description, but doesn’t meet a variety description or breed true at least 50% of the time it is considered an Easter Egg chicken".

There are 8 colors of the Ameraucana Breed: Black, Blue, Blue Wheaten, Brown Red, Buff, Silver, Wheaten & White.
If it is any other color then it is a "Easter Egger"
