This mixed chick is 12 weeks old.

When it hatched it looked like a black sex link pullet chick based on coloring, so I thought maybe it would be a pullet.

The mother is a black sex link and the father is an Easter Egger/Cuckoo Marans cross. (The father is cuckoo black and white with a mixed pea/straight comb that flops over really huge in his face.) The BSL mother had a green/blue glint to her feathers so I can't take that as a roo sign.

I can't decide if this chick, now named Lafayette, is a pullet or a little roo. I'm leaning towards roo, surprisingly. What do you think?

(I had such a hard time getting a picture of this bird, aaah!)

me thinks too soon to tell. but the neck silk feathers and the attitude, does look roosish. Very pretty bird!

im still a chicken noob but my guess is roo too, the tail feathers make me think so. :-( we've got 8 out of our spring straight run chicks we bought from various sources and 2 more roos that were supposed to be pullets from a hatchery (1 americauna and 1 welsummer)

Hmmm. Curvy saddle feathers but thin legs. I'm going with pullet. Just a guess
