Am I close?

Ok, I can do that on my big house, I think this is just gonna be a 2 bird set up now. My neighbor asked about them, I think she wants a couple as pets, I might just set this thing on wheels and give it to her after I finish it. See where the pitch of the roof is? If I frame a square before the pitch, for a door on 1 side and finish the top in cage wire, is that sufficient ventilation? rg's

That rain started up right as we started building our coop. I'm glad it's done with for now. I was beginning to consider floating coops.

Heck, I was considering building an ark, I could have put the chickens on the cow's backs.

I am glad it's over too. rg's

If you finished off the top with wire, there would be no shelter from rain or sun. You're going to want a solid roof over the coop part. You can raise the roof about an inch or two above the walls and cover the gap with hardware cloth. If you don't give chickens adequate airflow, they can get very sick from the ammonia build up over night.

I plan on the coop having a tin roof, I will post pictures in the am of how it is now, my deal is heat and ventilation. I can put a fan on them, even mosquitos bothering them, I know it sounds stupid but after 2 1/2 months you don't want anything messing with your chickens. I have had fun raising them. I was thinking half the floor wire, I don't know. rg's
