But I honestly cannot tell the difference in taste of our eggs laid by our own chickens vs store bought eggs.
I'm really not getting it. They look beautiful. Pretty yolk, nice solid whites. I can cook several in the pan at a time because they don't run all over the place. But I'm certain that if blindfolded and fed a bite of store bought egg and one of my own, I'd never know the difference. We even did a taste test with our first egg. Store bought vs home egg. It tasted the same, like an egg.
I'm sort of sad about that. I love all the other bennies of having our chickens and knowing that they are treated well...and all that. But I really hoping for some dynamic tasting eggs. Our girls get to range for 2 or more hours a day. Have a large run, eat layer food, get fruit/veg snacks, BOSS, loved like crazy.
What is the secret?
