These are my first ever chickens. They seem really happy and they are fed daily. Are they looking ok? They are almost 6 months old. I just want to make sure I’m doing everything right to have them as healthy and happy as possible!
If I posted in the wrong spot I apologize, this page is new to me and I’m a bit confused! 😊

Welcome to BYC. Pretty RIR’s. Are they heritage RIR? What do you feed them? A layer feed with 16% protein is good once all the hens are laying, but some use 20% flock raiser/all flock feed. Crushed oyster shell is good to put in a separate container for free choice, and poultry granite grit is also used in a separate container. Not much else is needed except clean water. I clean my waterers daily. Limit any treats to less than 10% of their intake. Probiotics are also good, and many chicken feeds have them included nowadays. You can add your location to your profile.

I feed them hen scratch mixed with black oil sunflower seeds

Scratch is actually a chicken treat and not a good diet. It is high in fat and low in nutrients. They need a formulated chicken food for a complete balanced diet.
It’s a bag that my mom mixes for hers and mine. I may not be saying it right. She mixes a few different things together and I add in the seeds
