My brooding hen has been off her nest for 2-3 days now with her 3 new chicks. I went to clear out the nest as per the advice given by a family member raised on a farm. On my way to the dumpster, one of the eggs started to make peeping sounds and cracking open its shell. In my excitement I started to help it hatch not really thinking (
). So now I need to know if I over helped, is there anything I can do about it? I brought it in the house and put it in a box with paper towel then put that box in a tall rubbermaid tote with a shop lamp clipped to the side and a 50W heating bulb (an extra we had for our snake). Will this set up work and how can I help this chick now that I have probably helped too much already?
