Am I guilty of over helping a hatching egg?

My brooding hen has been off her nest for 2-3 days now with her 3 new chicks. I went to clear out the nest as per the advice given by a family member raised on a farm. On my way to the dumpster, one of the eggs started to make peeping sounds and cracking open its shell. In my excitement I started to help it hatch not really thinking ( ). So now I need to know if I over helped, is there anything I can do about it? I brought it in the house and put it in a box with paper towel then put that box in a tall rubbermaid tote with a shop lamp clipped to the side and a 50W heating bulb (an extra we had for our snake). Will this set up work and how can I help this chick now that I have probably helped too much already?

I don't see a thermomoter in there...are you keeping it warm enough? Around 95-100 degrees.
I might also dampen the paper towels to keep it moist in there so the shell/membrane doesn't stick to the down.
Maybe you could put the egg in a tea cup to help give it time to absorb that blood (any yolk still needing to absorb?) I personally haven't had success but some people have saved chicks like this. There may be more info in the forum. Try the emergencies section or the Hatching 101 article by Sally Sunshine because it deals with this.
