Am I in trouble?

Give it some time. My ducklings are almost 7 weeks and I figured out recently that I had one boy and one girl. Last year I had 8 ducklings. I lost three as ducklings. They were about 7-8 weeks when all the girls got there quack.

I just really don't want to have to get rid of any. :(

I really would like 3 hens and 1 drake but someone told me that it would be better to have mated pairs?

I really am taking a wild guess, but I would say you have one male, one female. Comparing the sizes of the two, one is definitely bigger than the other. The beak color of the smaller one makes me think that she is the female; the bigger one looks...well...male. Hard to explain, but the head/neck silhouette is just different in males. Again, this is just an educated guess. In a couple of weeks, you should be able to sex by voice and by changes in the feathers...boys will start to get a little splotchy as they change color. You'll notice it on the long feathers on their wings & the feathers on their backs first (a subtle change to gray instead of shades of brown).

i got two pekin ducklings around the same time as you at the tractor supply store. I bought my yellow bundles of joy march 1st, so assuming they were about one week when i got them, they are now around 11 weeks. I knew the difference between my two at around 5 weeks. i have never owned ducks before and didn't realize they could be "quack sexed", but when i heard my female go from a peep to a loud quack, and the other just a soft "wort wort", i figured the quack must tell the difference. I agree, you probably have more drakes than you planned. i got luck to get one of each!

Oh I can absolutely tell with my Pekins... I know one is a female, and the other a male... the female (Candace) NEVER shuts up with her quacking...

The male (Stacy) doesn't do much of anything... but he surely doesn't PEEP... which is why I was so worried about my Mallards! They're still peeping. I really hope you guys are right and I have a male/female! I'll TRY to be more patient to see if we get some silver feathers in their molt (Which should be soon right?)

*** So... I just looked up on wikipedia... and I found this

Between three to four months of age, the juvenile can finally begin flying as its wings are fully developed for flight (which can be confirmed by the sight of purple speculum feathers). Its bill will soon lose its dark grey colouring and its sex can finally be distinguished by three factors. The bill colouring is yellow in males, black and orange for females. The breast feathers are reddish-brown for males, brown for females. The centre tail feather is curled for males (called a drake feather), straight for females

So... maybe we're right and I DO have a male and female!

But if that's the case.... and I do have 2 male and 2 female.. do I need to get rid of any or will a 1:1 ratio be okay?
